We started out in Weinachtsdorf which is right off the Zurichsee. Amanda and I took the girls here the year prior and despite the poor weather that particular day we really enjoyed the market with it's wide variety of swiss products and energetic setting on Sechselautenplatz next to the Bellvue tram stop.
This year the weather was dry but cold despite the projected daily high of 52 degrees. Two of us dressed according to the forecast while the other two dressed according to the season. I'll let you guess which two felt they made the better apparel choices for the day.
The actual high for the day was 38*. Gggbburrrrr! |
Despite the frigid temperatures we soldiered on through the morning bolstered by glühwein and Berliners.
After a long lunch in a local pizza restaurant we made our way back to the Zurich Hauptbanhof to see their "indoor" Christmas market. While not as expansive as Weinachtsdorf it was at least warmer and had came with Santa's special chocolate sleigh. Plus it was in the train station so we could stay there up until the last minute before we had to board the train home to pick up the girls.
It was a great day out with just the adults and thankfully the girls are none the wiser ;)
