In the United Kingdom there’s Guy Fawkes Day
In the United States we have Independence Day
Here in Liechtenstein we celebrate Liechtenstein National Holiday
Established in 1940 this is a day for locals and visitors alike to take some time to celebrate the uniqueness of Liechtenstein.
The festivities generally start with a speeches from the Monarch and President of the State Parliament which is followed by drinks in the castle gardens, a parade and festival in the capital of Vaduz, a large bonfire and many fireworks displays throughout the principality.
This year the weather was a bit touch and go throughout the day so we missed the speeches and drinks in the garden but did brave the weather to join the festival for a bit.
Unfortunately, the rains came about 45 minutes after we arrived so we decided to try our luck again next year.
But at least the girls got flags and crowns out of the day!
