London Fog

London Fog actually refers to a black (or yellowish, or greenish according to some history books – yuck!) smog, caused by air pollution from the 1800’s coal burning fireplaces. The smoke combined with the mists and fogs rising off the Thames, thus creating the phrase.

Luckily in the last 200 years, the use of coal has decreased and the air quality has increased (or at least stabilized!) and there isn't thick, choking fog in London anymore.

That being said, we did wake up to the most amazing foggy morning earlier this week.  Enjoy a few pictures from our neighborhood below.
